“What a concept! Focusing
on what I’m doing right rather than what
I’m doing wrong. You were right, things
work more than they don’t work if I just
notice it.”
—Craig
“I was in therapy for
a long time before and nothing got better. I can’t
believe how fast things improved when you suggested
I quit doing the same ineffective things I’d
been doing and do things a little differently.”
—Angela
“My drug use had
been a problem off and on for many years and I’d
just about given up. When you suggested looking
at the times I wasn’t using and how I did
that I was able to see strategies that have worked
before and now they’re working again. Now
I feel I’m controlling the problem, not
it controlling me.”

Proven
results.
Solution-Focused Therapy
has been used successfully to help thousands of
people in this country and abroad overcome problems
with depression, anxiety, self-esteem,
relationships and substance abuse, to name just
a few.
Use your own strengths to
solve problems.
With Solution-Focused Therapy
you won’t be asked to delve into your childhood
to discover elements of your life that may be
causing the problem. Instead, you’ll be
helped to discover the strengths and resources
you have right now that can be used to bring about
the positive changes you desire.
Simply put, Solution-Focused
Therapy uses your own strengths and resources
to solve your problems. You may have developed
successful problem-solving strategies in the past
that could be useful again. In fact, you may be
already doing some things to solve the problem
right now and aren’t even aware you’re
doing them.
A new way of thinking.
Solution-Focused Therapy
will change your thinking about problem-solving
to allow you to stop using old strategies that
may not be helping and actually may be perpetuating
the problem. It’s been said that the definition
of insanity is doing the same thing over and over
expecting different results. You already know
what’s not working, isn’t it time
to try something that does?
A little about me.
I’m a Licensed Professional
Counselor and Licensed Independent Substance Abuse
Counselor with a Masters degree in counseling
and have been practicing Solution-Focused Therapy
in Tucson for over 15 years.
Prior to my private practice,
I was a therapist with Carondelet Behavioral Health
and Southern Arizona Mental Health Corp. At both
Carondelet and SAMHC I also did crisis intervention
and assessment.
I’ve been married for over 40
years (so I think I have some experience with
what works) and have two grown children and two
grandchildren. In my free time I enjoy the outdoors,
hiking, backpacking, travel, salmon fishing and
rollerblading.
In my previous career I was
an award-winning ad agency creative director.
People frequently ask me if therapy is a radical
change from advertising. Actually, they’re
both very similar. Both require the ability to
quickly understand people’s needs and connect
with them as well as coming up with creative and
effective approaches to problem-solving. And doing
therapy is much more fun and personally satisfying.
In both my careers I have
helped thousands of clients utilize their strengths
and skills to successfully overcome challenges
and attain their personal and professional goals.
